When you come to Global Diversity website, you are required to submit personal information when you register on the site for job search. We collect personal information about you and distribute such information to our partners because this helps to connect with employers, other job seekers, advertisers and event sponsors and provide other services to you. This policy manual describes how information is collected, distributed and your rights with respect to your personal information security. Information We Collect and Retain
We collect the personal and demographic information you choose to provide us. We collect information about how you use our sites and the areas of our site that you visit, other sites that you visit and sites that lead you to us. We may also acquire information about you from third parties only with the intention of improving and personalizing your experience. The information that the resulting logs generate are necessary for analyzing the use of resources, troubleshooting problems, and improving services. We also use cookies and web beacons that are basically electronic makers and tags.


How the Information is Used
Information you post in public areas of the site or placed in the searchable Resume database will be accessed, used, and stored by others around the world, particularly employers, recruiters and advertisers. We strive to provide a safe, secure environment by attempting to limit access to our database to legitimate users, but cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties and hackers will not gain access. We also cannot control how authorized users choose to store or transfer information downloaded from the database, so you should ensure that you do not post sensitive information to Global Diversity. By sensitive information we mean social security numbers, bank account information and such information that are not a prerequisite to applying and getting a job.

The best experience one can have when they visit Global diversity websites should be relevant to the person’s interest and make the site visit interesting, entertaining and useful. To achieve this, we use the information we collect about you to deliver the products and services we offer, and to operate and improve our sites. Relevant and useful information are services that offer personalized content and advertising on our site or other sites with which we have a business relationship. Which websites are included in the Global Diversity network?
Global Diversity network includes all websites owned or controlled by Global Diversity, LLC. These include Global Diversity.com, essay.globaldiversity.net, blog.globaldiversity.net, virtualcareerfair.globaldiversity.net, and any other web property that we create or acquire. Some of these sites may have a different privacy policy than Global Diversity.com. Information may be shared among companies in the Global Diversity network, but it will always be used as described in the privacy policy of the site where it was collected and thus be advised to understand the privacy policy of each site.


Do you sell my information to make money?
We don’t share your personally identifiable information with marketers unless you give us your consent, such as by responding to an ad on our site or signing up for partner offers. We do sell advertising space on our site, allow employers to advertise their open positions and search our database of resumes for candidates qualified for those positions all for a fee. We also allow Companies and such other entities to sponsor events such as Job Fairs and essay contest for a fee.


What information does Global Diversity store about me in its database?
We store the following information about you in our database:
1.Personal information – information that can be used to identify you. We only collect this information that you choose to give it to us.
2.Demographic information – information that does not uniquely identify you, such as gender, ZIP code, educational attributes and personal interests.
3.Account-related information:
Date of account creation
Date and time of last login
Date and time of resume creation
Date and time of last resume modification
Number of failed login attempts
4.Behavioral information – information about your use of the site:

We also collect information about your behavior and navigation pathways on our site. This means that we collect data about your computer and the way you navigate through the website, including the website that sent you to Global Diversity – the pages you've visited and the places where you’ve clicked on each page.

Global Diversity also buys information about your interests from other companies and uses this information to serve personalized ads to you.


What other information does Global Diversity know about me?
We also store some information on your computer using cookies and we buy information about your interests from third parties. Cookies are tags that are used to keep track of your personalized settings and things you’ve seen or done on the site. Cookies are saved on your computer, allowing you to delete them any time you want. You can always delete such cookies from your computer and this is covered later in this section.


Why does Global Diversity need information regarding my computer and navigation on the internet?
Such information helps us understand your needs so that we can provide you with relevant, useful information when you are applying for jobs, to troubleshoot problems, to offer personalized advertising, prevent fraud, and help us improve the services we offer to you. Does Global Diversity sell my personal information?
Global Diversity does not sell your personal information to marketers, unless you authorize us to provide marketers with that information. We do not allow companies to purchase access to our resume database and use it for marketing. This would be a violation of our Terms of Use. If you suspect that something such as this is happening, please contact us so we can investigate the matter.


Who does Global Diversity share my information with?
Sometimes we need to use third parties with proprietary technologies and specific expertise to help us deliver our own products and services to you. These third parties are not authorized to use that information for purpose other than assisting us in providing those products and services.

If you have consented for us to do so:
• we may use your information to contact you about products or services available from our affiliates. If you have consented for us to do so,
• we may also share your information with third parties who may contact you about their products or services.

How long does Global Diversity keep my personal information?

Global Diversity keeps your personal information only until you tell us to delete it or until we determine you are no longer using your account. At any time you can modify or delete the information you’ve given to us by contacting us.


Does my account expire?
Yes. If you do not log in to your account for an extended period, your account will expire. Upon expiration all applicable account data such as personal information, profile, saved resumes and saved jobs will be deleted. You can always create a new account using the previously deleted email address and password or you can use a new email and password in such an occurrence.

What are you doing to protect my personal information?
Global Diversity has security measures and processes in place with the specific intent to protect your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, the Internet is an open system and cannot guarantee that unauthorized parties and hackers will not gain access. We also cannot control how authorized users choose to store or transfer information downloaded from the database, so you should ensure that you do not post sensitive information to Global Diversity.

Keep in mind that one of our primary purposes is to provide you with a platform to broadcast your resume, profile and skill sets widely to employers and to maximize your career opportunities. This environment does present a risk that unauthorized third parties will view your resume, so your resume should not contain any sensitive data including personality profiles or other data that you would not want made public. By sensitive information we mean social security numbers, bank account information and such information that are not a prerequisite to applying and getting a job.

What is a cookie?
A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is used for an origin website to send state information to a user's browser and for the browser to return the state information to the origin site. The state information can be used for authentication, identification of a user session, user's preferences, shopping cart contents, or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data.

Does Global Diversity use cookies to track me?
Global Diversity uses cookies to track some of your activity on the site. When you search for a job on Global Diversity or submit an essay, submit an essay review, or explore our site for articles, advertisements or events of interest, we place a cookie on your computer that contains information about the activities on the website. When you visit our site the next time, we read that cookie and use the information in it to show you jobs similar to the ones you previously searched for.


We also buy advertising space on other websites. When you visit a site that has a Global Diversity ad on it, our ad can read your cookie, and we can tailor the ad to show jobs similar to those you have looked at previously.


Does Global Diversity track my activity on non-Global Diversity sites?
No. Global Diversity can only track when you click on a Global Diversity advertisement on another site. If you do, we will keep track of the ad you saw and the site where it was displayed.


When I am on your site and looking at jobs, ads and such other things of interest to me, is someone actually looking at what I search and monitoring my activity?
No. The technology we employ on our site allows us to keep track of your activities based on your cookies. This process is completely automated and does not involve any human interference. We do review aggregated data to make sure the service is working as intended.


Do other advertisers use cookies on Global Diversity?
We allow other advertisers to display ads on our site. These ads may place a non-Global Diversity cookie on your computer. You can often opt out of these cookies by visiting the advertisers’ website and opting out. You can decline third-party cookies by changing your browser settings as described in the next.


How do I delete cookies?

For Internet explorer 8.0:
1. Open Internet Explorer and click on the "Tools" menu.
2. In the "Tools" menu, click on "Internet Options".
3. The Internet Options pop-up window appears.
4. Under the General Tab go to the “Browsing history section” and select the "Delete Cookies" by checking “Delete browsing history on exit” box.
5. Go to the bottom of the box and click "OK". This will delete cookies.

For Firefox 6.0.2:
1. Open Firefox (Mozilla). Click on the “FIREFOX” tab on the top LHS of the browser. This will open up a menu chart.
2. Click the Options menu and click on “OPTIONS” This will open up a box with more menu options.
3. Click on “PRIVACY” Tab at the top of the menu box.
4. Click ON “SHOW COOKIES” box towards the middle and RHS of the menu box. This will open up cookies box and will display all the cookies stored on the browser.
5. At the bottom, you have the choice of removing specific cookies or all cookies. Click on the appropriate selection. This will clear out the cookies.

For Google Chrome 13.0:
1. Click the wrench icon
2. Select Options (Preferences on Mac and Linux; Settings on a Chromebook).
3. Click the Under the Hood tab on the LHS of the screen.
4. Click Content settings in the "Privacy" section.

In safari 5.1 for users of Mac:
1. Open Safari and select Preferences. Once you're in Preferences, look at the very top of the page, not into the body. Up on top you'll see icons. One of these icons will be Security.
2. Click on Security and a page will open that will show you cookies. Point your cursor to cookies and click to open this.
3. Another page will open showing you a window that allows you to view every cookie. Down at the bottom, you have the option of clicking on Remove button. Click on that.
4. A box will open up asking you if you want to remove all the cookies. If you do, just say OK, and all the cookies will magically disappear or else you can highlight individual cookies and remove them individually. That doesn't mean, however, that your computer will stop acting up. But it will get rid of your cookies.

Does Global Diversity send me emails?
Yes. We will also send you account-related emails for issues relating to the use of your account, security updates, updates and upgrades to your service and system.


How does Global Diversity use profile information?
Your profile contains a collection of professional and personal details. We use this to match you to job opportunities, personalized career advice, and personalized advertising. Your profile information also lets you customize your Global Diversity homepage, see recommended jobs based on your interests and geographic location.


Does Global Diversity tell employers if I am in their database?
No. Global Diversity does not respond to such requests from employers. We provide you with the choice to block employers from accessing your resume as you see fit.


I deleted my resume accidently. Is it really gone?
If you delete a resume, it will be permanently deleted from Global Diversity’s production database and will be irretrievable, except for an archive copy that Global Diversity is required by law to maintain for a period of up to two years. If your resume was searchable by employers, or if you used it to apply online for a job, employers, recruiters, and others who have paid for access to the Global Diversity resume database, as well as parties who have otherwise gained access, may have kept a copy of your resume. Global Diversity cannot be held accountable for the retention, use, or privacy of resumes in these instances when it is downloaded by employers, recruiters and anybody else who may have downloaded the resume.


What information can others see if I post an essay, blog, article or review?
To post an essay, blog, article or review requires separate registration at the present time. Please note that your chosen username will always be shown. You should consider anything you post on our forums to be public so make sure you only post things you are comfortable making public.

About Ads Served by Third Parties.
We also allow third-parties and ad networks to serve ads when you visit Global Diversity Sites. These companies can view, edit or set their own cookies as if you had requested a web page from their site and they may use demographic and geographic information (but not personal information such as your name, address, email address or telephone number), as well as information about your search history on Global Diversity Sites, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you.
